ALLIANCE FOR VALUE-BASED PATIENT CARE APPLAUDS SENATE INTRODUCTION OF THE VALUE IN HEALTH CARE ACT

“Senators Whitehouse, Barrasso, Welch, Tillis, Cassidy, Thune, and Blackburn should be commended for introducing The Value in Health Care Act, which would advance high-quality, patient-centered healthcare by helping physicians and other clinicians transition toward value-based care.

“Accountable care organizations and other value-based arrangements are transforming health by more closely coordinating care among multiple providers and becoming more accountable to meeting quality performance metrics, which leads to better clinical outcomes and ultimately billions of dollars in Medicare savings.

“The United States cannot afford to lose momentum on its journey to a better, more efficient healthcare system, but that’s exactly what will happen unless Congress extends the incentive for value-based care. The Value in Health Care Act extends critical value-based care incentives for two years and makes additional needed improvements to value-based care models, including creating more opportunities for participation, offering technical assistance, and creating models that are fairer for participants. This important legislation is the bipartisan opportunity that’s needed to make sure physicians and other clinicians continue to have the tools they need to reduce costs and boost quality.”
